Plastica, arte virtuale ed ecosistema vivente di DC
Spensley
In superficie Ars Plastica è un mondo virtuale,
scaricabile, una storia esperienziale sui resti della
nave di una colonia aliena scoperta da un veicolo
spaziale di esplorazione della Terra. Ma Ars Plastica è
anche una mostra di meta-sculture, ciascuna progettata
per coinvolgere il fruitore in esperienze riflessive e
reattive, sfumature di quello che generalmente viene
considerato "interattività".
La visione delle sculture richiede una registrazione per
salire attraverso una bolla di gas ricco di ossigeno
incuneato tra le stelle lontano dalla nostra realtà.
Lungo la strada si noterà un mondo brulicante di vita
animale e vegetale, una volta destinato a colonizzare e
popolare un altro pianeta. Questa è la storia di un
naufragio di specie invasive, di un futile tentativo di
omeostasi, di produzione intorno ad un catalogo di opere
d'arte posto da qualche parte tra inerte e interattivo.
La sera del 4 luglio 2016 è possibile assistere al
debutto mondiale di Ars Plastica, con proiezioni dal
vivo al Pied à Terre 37788 di Roma, dove l'artista DC
Spensley sarà a disposizione come guida.

virtual world artwork and living ecosystem by DC

On the surface Ars Plastica is a downloadable virtual
world, an experiential story about the remnants of an
alien colony vessel discovered by an Earth exploration
spacecraft. But Ars Plastica is also an exhibition of
meta-sculptures, each a demonstration designed to engage
the art viewer in reflexive and reactive experiences,
nuances of what is generally considered “interactivity”.
To visit the sculptures requires the logged in art
viewer to soar through an oxygen rich gas bubble wedged
between stars far from our reality. On the way you will
notice a world teeming with plant and animal life once
intended to colonize and populate another planet. This
is the story of a shipwreck, of invasive species, of a
futile attempt at manufacturing homeostasis surrounding
a catalog of artworks somewhere between inert and
interactive.
